Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine capable of reliably burning all of mixed gas existing in a main combustion chamber.SOLUTION: A gas engine 1 has a cylinder 3 and a piston 4 which form a main combustion chamber 7. A subsidiary combustion chamber 12 is provided above the main combustion chamber 7. The gas engine 1 also has a fuel injection valve 14 to supply fuel to the subsidiary combustion chamber 12 and an ignition plug 16 to generate a spark in the subsidiary combustion chamber 12. The subsidiary combustion chamber 12 has a wall section 17 and a butterfly valve 18 which separates the subsidiary combustion chamber 12 into a first combustion chamber 12a formed outside of the wall section 17 and a second combustion chamber 12b formed inside the wall section 17. A partition wall section 13 which partitions the main combustion chamber 7 and the subsidiary combustion chamber 12 has first injection holes 13a communicating the first combustion chamber 12a with the main combustion chamber 7 and second injection holes 13b communicating the second combustion chamber 12b with the main combustion chamber 7.
