PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable installation of a scraper ring even in an internal combustion engine in which a wet liner cannot be adopted.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 according to an embodiment of the invention includes: a piston 6; a cylinder block 2; piston rings 17, 18 and 19 attached to an outer peripheral surface 9 of the piston; a cylinder bore 21 formed in the cylinder block so as to store the piston in a liftable manner, and having an inner peripheral surface 31 with which the piston ring is brought into slide contact; a step 33 formed on an inner peripheral surface 31 and an upper end 32 of the cylinder bore; and a scraper ring 35 arranged in the step.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
