Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To promote atomization of water injected into an intake passage while suppressing occurrence of excess and shortage of the water which is supplied to respective cylinders.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine comprising: a plurality of cylinders; an intake passage 2 having a plurality of branch passages 20 which are partitioned by a partition wall and connected to the respective cylinders, the intake passage 2 also having a common passage 26 which is shared by the respective cylinders at a further upstream side from an upstream-side end part 2A of the partition wall; and a water injection valve 5 arranged at the intake passage 20 which is connected to the respective cylinders, and injects water to the intake passage 20, the water injection valve 5a is configured so that center axis 5B of a water spray 5A from the water injection valve 5 progresses toward an upstream side of the intake passage 20 in each of the water injection valves 5, and a cross point 5C between the center axis 5B of the water spray 5A from the water injection valve 5 and an inner wall face of the intake passage 20 is located at a further downstream side from the upstream-side end part 2A of the partition wall.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
