Abstract:
To optimize the injection timing of fuel and the injection timing of oxygen-enriched air.SOLUTION: There is provided an internal combustion engine 1 which is operated at an air-fuel ratio higher than a theoretical air-fuel ratio. The internal combustion engine comprises: a separator 20 for separating air in intake air to nitrogen-enriched air and oxygen-enriched air; an intake passage 3 which is formed so as to send the nitrogen-enriched air generated by the separator toward a combustion chamber 12; a fuel injection valve 13 for injecting fuel into the combustion chamber; an air injection valve 14 for injecting the oxygen-enriched air generated by the separator into the combustion chamber; and a control unit 100 for controlling the fuel injection valve and the air injection valve so that the oxygen-enriched air is injected from the air injection valve immediately before the fuel is injected from the fuel injection valve.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
