Abstract:
To improve layout flexibility of a tensile force application device of an auxiliary machine belt in an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 includes: an oil pan 5 fastened to a lower end part of a cylinder block 2; a chain case 4 which is fastened to an end wall 2C at one side of a crank shaft 10 of the cylinder block as seen in an axial direction; a bent 31 wound around a crank pulley 23 provided at an end part of the crank shaft protruding from the chain case and an auxiliary machine pulley 26A provided at an auxiliary machine 26; and a tensile force application device 35 which contacts with a back surface of the belt and applies tensile force to the belt. The tensile force application device has multiple fastening parts 36B, 36C. At least one of the fastening parts is fastened to at least one of the cylinder block and the chain case, and the other of the fastening parts is fastened to the oil pan.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
