Abstract:
To improve combustion stability in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 1 has two intake valves 10 in one cylinder. In the cylinder deteriorated in combustion stability due to generation of swirl flow in the cylinder, caused by difference in flow rates in intake gases flowing from each of the intake valves 10a, 10b in operating the intake valves 10 in the same cylinder with the same valve opening characteristics, the swirl flow generated in the cylinder is suppressed by providing the intake valves 10a, 10b of the cylinder with difference in the valve opening characteristics. Thus the swirl flow in the cylinder can be weakened in the internal combustion engine 1, and the combustion stability in the cylinder can be improved by securing strength of tumble flow generated in the cylinder.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
