Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine for promoting the mixture of fuel and air in a cylinder of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine 1 having a cylinder 2, a piston 3 in which a cavity 5 is formed at an upper face, and which can slide vertically in the cylinder 2 in a cylinder axial direction of the cylinder 2, and a fuel injection device 4 for injecting fuel F combusted in a combustion chamber 6 which is formed by being surrounded by the cylinder 2 and the cavity 5, the internal combustion engine comprises a disturbance flow generation mechanism 14 for temporarily forming a protrusion protruding to the inside of the cylinder 2 in a radial direction from a recess which is recessed to the outside of the cylinder 2 in the radial direction from an inner wall face 15, or from the inner wall face 15 by deforming a part of the inner wall face 15 at the inner wall face 15 of the cylinder 2 between an upper end 2b of the cylinder 2 and a lower dead point of the piston 3. The disturbance flow generation mechanism 14 generates a disturbance flow in the cylinder 2 by the recess or the protrusion in at least one of an intake process, an expansion process and a compression process.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
