Abstract:
To provide an internal combustion engine capable of supplying cooling water from an inner block water jacket to an inner head water jacket, and capable of improving heat retaining properties of a cylinder bore wall.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 10 includes: a cylinder block 12 having a plurality of cylinder bores formed in series along a cylinder row direction, and an inner block water jacket 20 formed along an outer wall 16a of the cylinder bores so that cooling water flows therethrough; a cylinder head 14 having an inner head water jacket 26 through which the cooling water flows; a partition wall 30 partitioning the inner block water jacket 20 into an inner side flow passage 20c1 positioned on the side of the cylinder bores and an outer side flow passage 20c2 positioned on the side opposite from the cylinder bores; a flow rate adjustment mechanism (water stop mechanism 24) for adjusting a flow rate of the cooling water flowing into the inner side flow passage 20c1; and a communication passage 32 communicating the outer side flow passage 20c2 with the inner head water jacket 26.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
