Abstract:
To suppress a radial load acting on a bearing from a balance shaft using a gear damper while guaranteeing load decay in a circumferential direction in the gear damper.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine includes a crankshaft, a balance shaft, a balancer gear, a weight, and a gear damper. The balance shaft is disposed in parallel with the crankshaft. The balancer gear engages a crank gear installed to the crankshaft. The weight is installed to the balance shaft so as to be eccentric relative to an axial center of the balance shaft. The gear damper includes an annular elastic body and is interposed between the balance shaft and the balancer gear. The elastic body is configured to have a low rigidity relative to a circumferential part on a side where the weight is absent in a circumferential part on a side where the weight is present when viewing from an axial direction of the balance shaft and to have a large thickness in the axial direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
