Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure a favorable low temperature combustion without the generation of soot and a misfire.
SOLUTION: A first combustion, namely low temperature combustion in which EGR gas amount in a combustion chamber 5 is much than EGR gas amount in which the generation amount of soot becomes peak and the soot is scarcely generated, and a second combustion in which EGR gas amount in the combustion chamber 5 is less than EGR gas amount in which the generation amount of the soot becomes peak are selectively carried out. When the first combustion is carried out, the torque change amount of an engine output is detected and a fuel injection timing is controlled so that the torque change amount is in a predetermined range.
