Abstract:
To activate an exhaust emission control device quickly while suppressing worsening of emission performance.
This internal combustion engine 1 provided with a plurality of cylinders 11a to 11d capable of operating by using the reformed gas prepared from predetermined fuel by a fuel reforming device 50 and containing gaseous hydrogen and carbon monoxide gas as main components as fuel is provided with a control means (an electronic controller 60) for stopping ignition operation of partial cylinders among the cylinders 11a to 11d. When stopping the ignition operation, it is preferable to rarefy air-fuel mixture of the reformed gas and air sucked into each cylinder 11a to 11d.
