Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine and a connecting rod capable of suppressing restriction on an offset amount of a cylinder with respect to a crankshaft.SOLUTION: A shaft center C4 of a large end portion 28 of a connecting rod 26 is offset relative to an extension axis C5 along a length direction of a handle portion 29 in an opposite direction to an offset direction of a cylinder axis C2 relative to a crank axis C1. A side surface portion (rear curved surface 32b) of the connecting rod 26 on an opposite side to a normal rotation direction of a crank pin 12a when a piston 25 is located at a top dead center is recessed at a greater radius of curvature than that of a side surface portion (front curved surface 32a) in the normal direction.
