Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine which can avoid that a rotation radius of a flow of suction air in a combustion chamber becomes small, and can generate a strong tumble flow in the combustion chamber.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine 11 comprises an intake connection portion 191 which is connected to a combustion chamber 18 of the internal combustion engine 11 as a passage for making suction air flow into the combustion chamber 18, and whose passage cross section area becomes large as progressing to the combustion chamber 18, and an intake upstream portion 192 connected to an upstream end of the intake connection portion 191. Then, in at least one region out of both-side regions in a direction in which an engine output shaft 16 extends in a peripheral face 19A of a passage for making suction air flow into the combustion chamber 18, there is formed a recess 50 which extends in a direction in which the passage extends, and straddles the intake connection portion 191 and the intake upstream portion 192.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
