Abstract:

PURPOSE: To aim at simplification of a mode switching structure and a valve system by providing a switching control means for making fuel injection and igniting action per rotation or every other rotation of an engine in a 2-4 cycle operation mode switching type internal combustion engine.

CONSTITUTION: In the case of running condition in 2 cycle operation mode a control circuit 20 is used for having fuel injection by a fuel injection valve 7 and igniting action by an ignition plug 8 carried out one time per one revolution of an engine. Then, the circuit has an exhaust port 11 and a scavenging port 10 opened successively so as to have exhaust gas discharged, and fresh air used for scavenging at the time of descent of a piston 3 forced by explosion of fuel. Thereafter, the exhaust port 11 and the scavenging port 10 are closed in sequence so as to transfer the stroke to compression and explosion. On the other hand, the control circuit has the fuel injection and igniting action carried out once per two revolutions of the engine in 4 cycle operation mode so as to have the compression and explosion of mixture performed in the first one reciprocation of the piston 3 and scavenging by fresh air and exhaust action performed in the last one reciprocation.
