PURPOSE: To improve a heat efficiency and an output per an unit exhaust amount without an increase in a combustion temperature, a highest pressure and an exhaust amount.
CONSTITUTION: In an internal combustion engine 100, an intake air is compressed isothermally and made into the air with a low temperature and an intemediate pressure by an isothermal compression mechanism 12 and this is subjected to heat exchange with the exhaust gas with an intermediate temperature and intermediate pressure with a heat exchanger 14 and made into the air with the intermediate temperature and intermediate pressure. This is heated into a combustion gas by the combustion of a fuel in a piston cylinder mechanism 16 and a mechanical energy is generated by expanding this. Thereafter, this is exhausted through the heat exchanger 14 as an exhaust gas with the intermediate temperature and intermediate pressure and an exhaust heat is reutilized to the heating of the intake air after compression.
