To provide the subject facing material excellent in touch feeling and drapability, good in stretchability, with no wrinkle occurrence, excellent in yarn breakage/yarn slip-off proofness, and prevented from yarn fraying form the edge face when cut, and to provide a method for producing such a facing material.

This internal trim facing material for motor vehicles has such a construction that composite yarns each made by doubling a thermofusible yarn with a stretchable yarn having specific stretchability, or composite yarns 3 each made by winding a thermofusible yarn 10 around a stretchable yarn 11 having specific stretchability, which are used as at least a part of the constitutive yarns of a weave construction 4 with the reverse face furnished with lining layer 5, wherein the thermofusible yarns 10 have undergone fusing treatment. This facing material is produced recommendedly by subjecting thermofusible yarns to fusing treatment followed by furnishing a lining layer.
