Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a prosthesis which can be easily implanted and withstands high load for a long life by surrounding the respective holes with a valve formed on the surface of a shaft. CONSTITUTION: This prosthesis has a shaft 3 provided with many fine pocket holes 1 on the surface, and it can be implanted without cement. Each of the holes 1 is surrounded with a valve formed on the shaft surface. The hole 1 has a diameter of 25-100μm and a depth of 50-200μm. 20-100 holes 1 are formed per 1mm of the shaft surface. At least some of the holes 1 are oriented to form an acute angle to the direction of force applied to the bone by the prosthesis under the condition that the axial direction directed to the bottom is normal.
