To provide an interpolation system for the concealed area of an arbitrary visual point moving image for plotting a concealed part without increasing data quantity.
At a transmission side, a background image 4 is generated from a reference image 1 and a depth map 3 of an image, and composited into a background buffer 5. At that time, projective transformation matrix 6 for that composition is calculated. At a reception side, the reference image 1 and the depth map 3 and the projective transformation matrix 6 are received from the transmission side. At the reception side, an arbitrary visual point image 11 and the background image 12 are generated from the reference image 1 and the depth map 3 of the image. Also, a background buffer 13 is dynamically updated for each frame by using the background image 12 and the image in a background buffer 13 and the projective transformation matrix 6. Finally, the arbitrary visual point image 11 is composited with the image in the background buffer 13, and the background in a concealed part in the arbitrary visual point image is complemented, so that a complemented image 14 can be obtained.
