Abstract:

To provide an intersection traffic control system achieving safe and smooth intersection traffic flow with consideration given to existence of a pedestrian and the like.

In this intersection traffic control system setting priority to vehicles entering an intersection and controlling speed of the vehicles entering the intersection to pass them according to the set priority, when a mobile body (a pedestrian or the like) not to be controlled exists in the traveling direction of the vehicle entering a predetermined area including the intersection or the intersection, speed entering the intersection is reduced by limiting acceleration of the vehicle entering the intersection (a) or by reducing the speed of the vehicle entering the intersection below a predetermined speed (b). If it is determined that a possibility that the vehicle entering the intersection crosses the pedestrian or the like is at a predetermined level or more when the pedestrian is in the intersection, the speed of the vehicle is reduced below a second predetermined speed for traveling slow.
