A tentative target intervehicular distance Lk is computed based on an intervehicular distance detected value L at the time of pedal operation finishing, a relative speed detected value Vs and own vehicle speed detected value V, and a target intervehicular distance Ly is gradually changed from the tentative target intervehicular distance Lk upto the a referential intervehicular distance L* after finishing of the pedal operation. Then, braking driving force is controlled to make the intervehicular distance detected value L consistent with the target intervehicular distance Ly based on the intervehicular distance detected value L, the target intervehicular distance Ly, the relative speed detected value Vs and own vehicle speed detected value V. Fluctuation of G in the longitudinal direction of a body is reduced thereby after finishing of the pedal operation, and intervehicular distance control is smoothly restarted after interruption of the intervehicular distance control by the occupant's pedal operation to improve riding comfortability.
