Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an intra-pipe running device which permits running in a small bore bent part of a steel pipe having a small radius of curvature in the axial direction without risk of dislocation.
CONSTITUTION: An intra-pipe running device comprises magnetic wheels 1 accommodating permanent magnets so that the wheels are always contacted with the pipe wall, a wheel supporting part 3 to support the wheels 1 so that their axial angle to the axis of a steel pipe 20 does not become zero and so that it varies, a motor 7 to exert a driving force for running, a flexible shaft 4 to transmit the torque of the motor 7 to the wheels 1, and a rotation stopping mechanism 9 to hinder the motor itself 7 from rotating.
