Abstract:
PURPOSE: To facilitate the fixing of an intramedullary nail without the necessity of an X-ray manipulator and minimize the load of a radio activity for a patient by forming the range of the tip end of the nail of the intramedullary nail from an absorbable material. CONSTITUTION: An intramedullary nail 1 having a penetrated hole at the center is hammered into the medulla, and the intramedullary nail 1 has a hole 3 at the nailhead of a nail 2, and a nail-fixing screw is inserted into the hole 3 after sighting a target by a focusing device. The tip end portion 4 of the nail made from an absorbable material is not bored at a position 5, 6 until the intramedullary nail 1 is hammered therein. A dust caused at the time of boring the hole is absorbed so that not necessary to remove. The nailhead 2 and the tip end portion 4 of the nail are combined by a thin sleeve 9. It is advantageous that the absorbable material portion of the intramedullary nail and the absorbable nail-fixing screw 7, 8 may be composed of a polylactide, and the sleeve may be composed of a titanium or a titanium alloy. A stability during fractured pieces are bonded together is guaranteed, and after cured, the whole portion of an implant is removed excepting the absorbable tip end portion of the intramedullary nail and the nail-fixing screw 7, 8.
