To provide an intumescent fireproof coating which is capable of forming a foaming carbonized layer with a sufficient expansion ratio and strength and has excellent fireproof performance.
In the intumescent fireproof coating including a synthetic resin emulsion, a phosphorus compound and a polyhydroxy alcohol, the synthetic resin emulsion having a hydroxy group and having the hydroxyl value of 0.1-100 mg KOH/g in the resin solid content is used. Particularly, it is preferable that the synthetic resin emulsion is an emulsion polymer from a monomer group which comprises alkyl (meth)acrylate and/or an aromatic monomer as main components and includes the hydroxy group containing monomer with a ratio of 0.5-15 wt.% in the monomer group.
