PURPOSE: To provide a coil diameter ar width measurement device of high measurement precision and economy.

CONSTITUTION: A sliding unit 4 is provided with a coil end detection sensor 5 and scale reading sensor 6. As the sliding unit 4 rises along a track 1, the coil end detection sensor 5 sequentially detects a lower end L0 of the outside diameter of a coil 25 of foil end detection sensor 5, a lower end L1 of the inside diameter, an upper end L2 of the inside diameter and an upper end L3 of the outside diameter. The scale reading sensor 6 reads the scale of magnetic lattice stripes of scale 3, so that travel distance of the sliding unit 4 is measured, with the result that a calculator 10, based on the signal of both sensors 5 and 6, calculates outside and inside diameters of the coil 25.
