To ensure a compact and inexpensive mechanism by mounting a first cam to a drive side shaft so as not to be rotatable relatively while mounting a second cam on a follower side shaft extending coaxially therewith so as not to be rotatable relatively but movable axially, and providing a thrust cam converting the rotation direction of the first cam into the axial direction of the second cam.
This mechanism is provided with a first cam member 22 having a thrust cam 26 of V shaped recess type at the outer circumferential part of an end face, a second cam member 23 having a clutch tooth 29 corresponding to a clutch tooth 28 formed with a stationary member 11 at its circumferential part as well as a thrust cam 27 of V shaped protrusion type corresponding to the cam 26 of the first cam member 22, an output shaft 24 as a follower side shaft, and a coil spring 25 interposed between the member 23 and the shaft 24. The first cam member 22 is mounted to a drive side shaft so as not to be rotatable relatively. With this constitution, a structure wherein transmission and interruption are changed over is made simple with a reduced diametrical size and a reduced cost, which is suitable for the use with a severe restriction of size.
