To attain downsizing and cost reduction by providing an inverter device capable of being remote controlled with a low voltage signal input part which is connected to an external controller and to which a lighting condition control signal with respect to the control circuit is inputted.
This discharge lamp lighting device comprising an inverter unit 1 and a remote-control unit 2 is provided in the invertor unit 1 with an input part for lighting and putting off the discharge lamp according to on/off of power supply line 3 with respect to an AC power supply 3 through a power supply switch 4. A full light/dimming light changeover signal part 5b and a grounded terminal part 5c as well as an oscillation stopping signal input part 5a are provided as a low voltage input part connected to the remote control unit 2. On the side of the remote control unit 2 terminals 6a-6c corresponding to the above-mentioned parts 5a-5c are provided and on the side thereof a light receiving part 8 and a control part 9 working according to the operation of an infrared ray remote control switch 7 are provided. Only with the operation of the switch 7 a required lighting condition is obtained, and an semiconductor switch for putting on/off the line 3 is not required on the side of the remote control unit 2 and coping with a large current is made unnecessary.
