Title:
INVESTMENT CASTING METHOD USING CORE WITH INTEGRAL WALL THICKNESS CONTROL MEANS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3226674
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prevent the fluctuation in product wall thickness by thermal strain at the time of casting by projecting bumpers from a core and keeping the bumpers engaged with a mold.
CONSTITUTION: The fired ceramic core 20 is disposed in a prototype mold cavity 30 of a shape coinciding with the shape of a blade profile 10. The bumpers (protrusions) 22 are formed at the plural points of the fired core 20 and are pressed to the robust wall 33 of the cavity 30. As a result, the deformation of the easily deformable core 20 is suppressed. When a product is formed by pouring the prototype material into the cavity 30, the thickness of the prototype material is eventually exactly embodied. The holes of the outer wall formed by the protrusions 22 of the core 20 are in a range permissible in terms of casting performance and the extremely small air flow loss of some extent occurs in a gas turbine blade but can be compensated by a final calculated air flow value.
