Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ion exchange apparatus not densely filling a column with an ion exchange resin to enable the washing of the resin by the development thereof by a simple apparatus and simple operation without raising pressure difference and capable of obtaining a high purity ion exchange treatment soln. by a reduced amt. of a regeneration agent.
SOLUTION: In an ion exchange apparatus passing a liquid through ion exchange columns 1a, 1b packed with cation and anion exchange risins 2a, 2b so as to have free boards 3a, 3b as an ascending or descending stream to perform ion exchange and provided with a piping system so as to perform countercurrent regeneration, polishing filters 11a, 11b wherein the space of double strainers is densely packed with a small amt. of the same resins as those filled into the ion exchange columns 1a, 1b are attached to treated liquid outlet pipings 12a, 12b and a regeneration agent soln. is passed through the polishing filters 11a, 11b to perform countercurrent regeneration and the treated liquids of the ion exchange columns 1a, 1b are passed through the polishing filters 11a, 11b to be enhanced in purity.
