Abstract:
To provide an ion exchange membrane and a membrane/electrode junction body suitable for a direct methanol type fuel cell, and to provide the direct methanol type fuel cell having excellent performance.
As to this ion exchange membrane, a methanol transmission speed (M) and a transmission coefficient (C) at 25°C in regard to a methanol solution of 5 mol/L, an ion exchange capacity (I), and proton conductivity (σ) at 80°C and relative humidity of 95% satisfy M ≤ 3.0, C < 0.065 × (I^3), σ≥ 0.02 × (I^3), 1 ≤I≤ 2.3. This membrane/electrode junction body and the fuel cell use the ion exchange membrane.
