Abstract:
To provide an ion exchange membrane which can increase a surface area of a membrane effective for ion permeation and has a wide range of salt concentration and high physical strength with less deformation or damage due to swelling even when a salt concentration difference between two solutions in contact with the membrane is large.SOLUTION: There is provided an ion exchange membrane having an uneven shape, wherein the ion exchange membrane is a graft polymer, the ion exchange membrane itself has a curved shape, a protruded bent portion and a recessed bent portion of the ion exchange membrane form a protruded portion and a recessed portion, respectively, in the uneven shape of the ion exchange membrane, the protruded portion is extended in a straight shape or a curved shape, the recessed portion between the protruded portions includes a first recessed portion adjacent in the short direction to the protruded portion along the longitudinal direction of the protruded portion, and the protruded portion has a top and a side surface in the longitudinal direction and the side surface is inclined from the top toward the first recessed portion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 31
