The ion generator has a plurality of electric discharge sections 101 and 201 generating ions by electric discharge and a high voltage generation section 300 outputting high voltage discharge electric power common to the electric discharge sections 101 and 201. The electric discharge section 101 and the electric discharge section 201 are structured in different forms. The electric discharge section 101 is connected to the high voltage generation section 300 through a resistor R101 and a resistor R102, and the discharge section 201 is connected to the high voltage generation section 300 through a resistor R201 and a resistor R202.
