Title:
IP PACKET COUNTING METHOD WHEN MEASURING TRAFFIC INSIDE INTERNET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3169880
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To specify the type of an application and to perform counting by adding a packet number and an octet number of monitored IP packets to the data of packets for which four elements match.
SOLUTION: When an IP packet passed through a measurement spot is provided with a header of a transmission control protocol(TCP)/user datagram protocol(UDP), whether or not an IP packet for which the four elements (source address, destination address, identification and protocol) inside an IP header and the port number match is present inside a table is checked. When matched, the value of the IP packet passed through is added to the packet number and the octet number. When not matched, whether or not an IP packet for which the four elements match and the port number does not match is present inside the table is checked. When matching data are present, the value of the IP packet passed through is added to the packet number and the octet number.
