Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering metal iridium from a chloride solution of iridium.SOLUTION: Concerning the method for recovering metal iridium from the chloride solution of iridium, this fire reduction method of iridium includes; a recovery process in which, after adjusting the valence number of iridium ion to be tetravalent by heating the solution and adding an oxidizing agent thereto, a base is further added thereto to adjust liquid pH to be ≥7, to thereby precipitate iridium as a hydroxide; a cleaning process in which, after filtering the precipitate, repulp cleaning by pure water is performed several times, to thereby clean and remove attached alkali metal ions; and a fire reduction process in which the precipitate is fire-reduced in the reducing gas atmosphere, to thereby obtain metal iridium.
