Abstract:

To provide a light emitting device capable of emitting light (especially blue light) in high luminance and efficiency and having excellent durability and an iridium complex usable for the light emitting device.

Provided is an iridium complex expressed by general formula (1) (in the general formula (1), N is a nitrogen atom; X1is C(R2) or a nitrogen atom; X2is C(R4) or a nitrogen atom; L is a ligand; P1is a phosphorus ligand; and ring A is a pyridine ring, a quinoline ring or the like).
