Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an iron based powder mixture for powder metallurgy which is stable in apparent density, lessens segregation, contains zinc at a lower ratio and has an excellent flow property by adhering a specific amt. of org. lubricants varying in m.p. together wish additive powder to the iron based powder and mixing a specific amt. of the free powder of zinc stearate.
SOLUTION: Two or more kinds of the org. lubricants of the different m.p. selected from stearic acid, oleic acid amide, stearic acid amide and a molten mixture composed of the stearic acid amide and ethylene bis-stearic acid amide and ethylene bis-strearic acid amide are melted and adhered to 0.2 to 1.0 wt.% iron based powder. At this time, the powder is melted at a temp. above the lowest m.p. and bellow the highest m.p. of the lubricants. As a result, the high m.p. lubricant and the powder for alloys, cutting improvement powder, etc., are adhered to the iron based powder via the low m.p. lubricant fused to the iron based powder. The compsn. is mixed with 0.1 to 0.35 wt.% zinc stearate powder after cooling.
