Title:
IRON CLUB HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04176478
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce contact resistance to obstacles such as grass and provide a club head excellent in the strength by providing a plurality of rib-like weight bodies on the rear surface of a face so that the bottom surface of the weight body is continuous to a sole face while making a leading edge like a cutter.

CONSTITUTION: A leading edge 4 of a face surface 3 is made like a sharp cutter, so that a function of moving off and cutting off obstacles such as grass is given to a club head and a ball in a rough or the like can be surely got out. Since a rib-like weight body 6 reinforces a head body 1 while projecting largely rearward from the face surface 3 thereunder, the depth of the center of gravity as the club head is deepened and inertia moment is increased so that the directional deflection of the club head can be regulated. In relation to the provision of the rib-like weight body 6, the area of a sole face 5 itself can be lessened while the contact resistance between the sole face and the ground can be reduced.
