Title:
IRON CLUB HEAD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3117935
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enlarge a sweat spot and to expand the degree of freedom of designing a head due to an increase in moment of inertia and a lower center of gravity by incorporating a tungsten alloy having a prescribed specific gravity or higher that contains tungsten accounting for prescribed w.% or higher into the head body near its sole.
SOLUTION: The iron club head 1 has an iron head body 2 formed of a stainless alloy and a face member 3 formed of a pure titanium plate or a titanium alloy plate. And a rod tungsten alloy 5 is contained in the head body 2 near its sole. Specifically, the tungsten alloy 5 is formed of a sintered alloy having a specific gravity of 18.0 or higher that contains tungsten accounting for 80w.% or higher. And a stepped groove comprised of an inner groove and outer groove is formed from the sole of the head body 2 and the tungsten alloy 5 is stored in the inner groove and then fixed by filling its clearance with an adhesive.
