Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To impart excellent heat resistance and weather resistance without reducing black degree by preparing an iron oxide particle having a specific average particle diameter, a complex oxide layer of zinc and iron on the surface of the particle, and the complex oxide layer of the zinc and the iron or a zinc compound layer on the formed complex oxide layer.
SOLUTION: An aqueous solution consisting essentially of a ferrous salt is mixed with an alkali aqueous solution and the mixture is subjected to an oxidation reaction. An aqueous solution containing zinc is added to the reaction mixture when the remaining unreacted Fe2+ has become ≤10 wt.% of the starting time, and the pH is regulated to 6-10. The oxidation reaction is restarted, and an aqueous solution containing a ferrous salt with the zinc, or only the zinc is added to the reaction mixture after finishing the reaction. The pH is regulated to 6-10 and the oxidation reaction is restarted to provide the objective iron oxide particle. The obtained oxide particle has 0.05-1 μm average particle diameter, a complex oxide layer of the zinc and the iron on the surface of the particle, and further one or more layers of the complex oxide layers of the zinc and the iron, or zinc compound layers, formed on the obtained complex oxide layer.
