The iron type golf club head 1 comprises: a head body 1A; a toe-side weight member 10 made of a metal material M1 having specific gravity ρ2 larger than that of the head body 1A and disposed on a toe-side of the head body 1A; and a heel-side weight member 11 made of a metal material M2 having specific gravity ρ3 larger than that of the head body 1A and disposed on a heel-side of the head body 1A. The head body 1A comprises: a face base body 13 having a face 2 to hit a golf ball on its front surface; and a tubular portion 7 provided continuously on a heel-side of the face base body 13 and having a shaft inserting hole 7a. A distance L1 from the center of gravity Gt of the toe-side weight member to the center of gravity Gh of the heel-side weight member 11 ranges from 50 to 120 mm.
