PURPOSE: To prevent accidents when supplying power again by detecting how an iron is placed on an ironing board, and holding the heater of the iron in a state in which electricity is not transmitted thereto when a power non-supply state is detected for a longer period of time than a preset time.

CONSTITUTION: When a placement switch 7 is turned off the temperature control processing of a cord-equipped mode is carried out. When the placement switch 7 is turned on, the temperature control processing of a cordless mode is carried out and a heater 24 is controlled by an electricity transmission control switch 23 according to temperature setting by a setting switch 12 and temperature detected by a thermistor 26. When the placement switch 7 is turned off and a placement switch flag is 1, the power sign display processing of a cordless lift mode is carried out within a predetermined temperature range with respect to set temperature. Either when the placement switch 7 is turned on or when the placement switch flag is 0, outage time is measured and when the outage time is longer than a predetermined time the setting switch is turned off and outage is indicated in a display portion 11b. Therefore accidents can be prevented when power is supplied again.
