The method of manufacturing the irregular cross section material 3 in which the irregular cross section material 3 is manufactured by a plastic working method with a porous metal as a raw material 1, and the irregular cross sectional material 3 manufactured by the manufacturing method are provided. The plastic working method is a rolling method using a groove roll 11 for at least one roll. The rolling reduction ratio with respect to a rolled portion where a thin part is formed is the porosity of the porous metal or less.
