Title:
IRREGULARLY PATTERNED ENTANGLED NONWOVEN FABRIC AND MANUFACTURE OF THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3205051
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an entangled nonwoven fabric having irregularly sized apertures in an irregular pattern by impacting columnar jets of water against a fibrous web in two entanged zones.
CONSTITUTION: A fibrous starting material layer containing individual fibers, which are movable by a fluid force, is supported on a supporting member which are mechanically entangled one another and is fluid-permeably patterned. The columnar jets of water are impacted against the layer on the supporting member. The layers are moved in a specified direction toward the first entangled zone which pass through this layer and the supporting member, Thereafter, the layers are made to come off the zone and are moved toward the second entangled zone. Then the fibrous starting material layer is displaced out of the pattern-matched form on the pattern-formed supporting member. Again, the columnar jets of water are impacted against this layer, thereby moving the fibers into the second zone. Thus, the desired nonwoven fabric is obtained.
