Title:
ISOCHRONOUS CONNECTION PROCESSING METHOD AND PACKET EXCHANGE NETWORK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2610115
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively execute an isochronous connection processing by providing a buffer occupation time reduction mechanism for controlling the flow of data, which passes through the exchange node of a system, avoiding congestion in the node and reducing necessary buffer storage.
CONSTITUTION: An exchange node 12 partially exists in an exchange controller 24 and it monitors the operation states of isochronous connection, which are established through the exchange port of the node. The single exchange 22 of a cross bar switch designates the route of data to a related transmission exchange port from the reception exchange port of specified connection. When it can be delivered, a port control mechanism 34 gives a command so that the stored packet is taken out from a buffer 32 through an input control mechanism 30 for transferring it to the exchange 22. Then, the exchange 22 transfers the packet to the output control mechanism 36 to a transmission exchange port 20. An unillustrated source exchange node delays the delivery time of the subsequent isochronous packet by the reduction mechanism of buffer occupation time corresponding to a feedback signal by using a feedback message.
