PURPOSE: To obtain isocyanatecarboxylic acids that have excellent storage stability, dispersibility and wear resistance and are useful for a cross-linking agent, etc., by reacting diisocyanate, etc., with bis-hydroxymethyl alkane III which are respectively specified.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compd. having 1 to 30 wt.% isocyanate group bonded to a (cyclo)aliphat. ternary carbon atom and a carboxyl group partially existing in a carboxylate type of 0.5 to 500 milli equiv. for each 100 g of isocyanate carboxylic acid is obtd. by reacting, at 1.6/1 to 2/1, by NCO/OH equiv. ratio, (A) the diisocyanate having, at a mol.wt. of 168 to 300, an isocyanate group bonded to the primary aliphat. carbon atom and an isocyanate group bonded to the ternary (cyclo)aliphat. carbon atom and (B) ≥1 kinds of the isocyanates exclusive of the component A, up to 25 isocyanate equiv.% of the equiv. of the components A, B with (C) 2,2-bis-(hydroxymethyl-alkane acid of formula (R is H, hydroxylmethyl, etc.).
