Title:
ISOLATION OF CYCLOPENTANE AND/OR CYCLOPENTENE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH11315038
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an economical method for the isolation of high-purity cyclopentane.

This method comprises the following process : a low-boiling fraction with a boiling point lower than that of cyclopentene and a high-boiling fraction comprising cyclopentene and hydrocarbons with boiling points higher than that of cyclopentene are withdrawn as a 1st overhead product 2 and a 1st bottom product 3, respectively; the cyclopentene 7 is withdrawn as a 2nd overhead product from the 1st bottom product, and cyclopentane, together with hydrocarbons with boiling points higher than that of cyclopentane, is withdrawn as a 2nd bottom product 8, which, in turn, is subjected to 3rd fractional distillation to withdraw the cyclopentane 9 as a 3rd overhead product; the hydrocarbons with higher boiling points than that of cyclopentane are withdrawn as a 3rd bottom product 10, or the 1st bottom product is subjected to catalytic hydrogenation followed by fractional distillation to separate the hydrogenation product into the cyclopentane as overhead product and, as bottom product, the hydrocarbons with boiling points higher than that of the cyclopentane, thereby obtaining the aimed cyclopentane.
