PURPOSE: To obtain an ibuprofen powder improved in storage properties and preparation characteristics for directly producing tablets and easily becoming free flowability by solidifying molten ibuprofen on a contact cooling apparatus and grinding the obtained solid.
CONSTITUTION: Molten ibuprofen pref. obtained by purifying ibuprofen [2-(4- isobutyl-phenyl)-propionic acid] by rectification is solidified on a contact cooling apparatus in a layered form having a thickness of 0.1-1.0 mm, pref., 0.5 mm or less by using a seed material, especially, an auxiliary agent and/or ibuprofen particles and the obtained solid is ground by pref. using a roll mill to obtain ibuprofen particles excellent in flowability, storage properties and preparation properties, not electrostatically charged, easy to handle, suitable for directly producing tablets and useful as an analgetic, an anti-fever agent or an anti- rheumatic.
