To provide an isolator having a reduced time required for sterilization treatment.
The isolator 100 comprises: a working chamber 10 for working on materials derived from living organisms; a sterilizing substance feeding unit 40 disposed in a thermally and pressure-wise independent state in a gas passage including the working chamber 10 and provided with a heater for heating and gasifying a sterilizing substance, thereby to feed the gasified sterilizing substance to the gas passage; a gas passage pressure adjusting unit for pressurizing or depressurizing the inside of the gas passage; a working chamber barometer 18 for detecting the pressure in the gas passage; and a control unit 50 for controlling the execution of a gas passage leak test, in which the inside of the gas passage is pressurized or depressurized by the gas passage pressure adjusting unit and thereafter the gas leakage from the gas passage is checked on the basis of the detection result of the working chamber barometer 18, and controlling the feed of the sterilizing substance by the sterilizing substance feeding unit 40. The control unit 50 raises the temperature of the heater 422, as associated with the feed of the sterilizing substance, in parallel with the gas passage leak test.
