Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain iso-isomerized compd. by bringing a feed material contg. normal paraffins into contact with a specified solid catalyst in the presence of hydrogen and an adamantane compd. with suppressing formation of undesirable decomposed hydrocarbons.
CONSTITUTION: A feed material contg. normal Cn- or Cn+-paraffins (wherein n=5) is brought into contact with a solid catalyst comprising a group VIII metal (pref. Ni, Pt, Ru, Rh, Pd, Os or Ir) and a sulfated Group IVB metal oxide in the presence of hydrogen and an adamantane compd. at a temp. lower than the decomposition temp. of the sulfate. A product contg. iso-Cn- or iso-Cn+- isomerized compd. and C(n-1)-decomposed compd. is recovered.
