To obtain a new isonicotinic acid derivative having high controlling activities against blast and sheath blight of rice, etc., and useful as fungicide etc., for agriculture and horticulture.
The objective isonicontinic acid derivative is represented by formula I [X is a halogen; Y and Z are each O, S or NR (R is H or a lower alkyl); A is a (substituted) 1-6C alkylene; R1 and R2 are each H, a lower alkyl, etc.; Py is a group of formula II (R3 is a lower alkyl, a lower cycloalkyl, etc.; R4 is H, a lower alkyl, etc.)] and exemplified by 2-(3,4,5-trimethyl-1- pyrrazolyl)-1,4-n-propyl-6-pirimidinyloxyethyl-2,6-dichloroisonicotinate. For example, the compound is obtained by reacting a compound of formula III with a compound of formula IV in the presence of a deacidification agent such as triethylamine in an organic solvent such as benzene at the temperature near the boiling point of the organic solvent for 1-3hr.
