Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the number of mechanism components and enhance reliability of an apparatus by performing a current-limiting operation, at high speed, ranging from a large current to a small or medium current upon a short-circuit accident from an outlet to a terminal in a high voltage distribution system.
CONSTITUTION: When a large current caused by a short-circuit flows, magnetic flux is generated in a U-shaped magnetic material 23 so that the flux is interlinked with the short-circuit current and a movable electrode 3 elongates a contacting-and-pressing spring 12 while rotating at high speed so as to rotate also a movable electrode trip piece 3c. As a result, the restriction, which has been keeping a closed state, between an engaging groove 10d and an engaging roller 22 is released so that the electrode 3 is opened at high speed by means of composite force of electromagnetic force of the magnetic material 23 and spring force of a breaking spring 14. When a small or medium current flows, magnetic flux is generated in a magnetic material 25 and a magnetic piece 26 so that the magnetic piece 26 is rotated to move a link mechanism consisting of an insulating lever 27, a link lever 29, and a trip shaft 30. The closed-and-restricted state due to the engaging mechanism is released. This electrode opening operation is performed only by the movable electrode 3 and the engaging mechanism so that its light kinetic weight allows high speed operation. Accordingly, the number of mechanism components can be reduced, resulting in enhancement of reliability.
